On our specific case, it would be very welcome to have this ability, in order we could keep dev environment always (like daily) synced to staging - we can automate the filesystem via github, but the database seems a little more trick. Copy Environment seems to do exactly that, and if provided via API or other connection, we can put that in an automation.

Just to make sure I understand what you are trying to achieve, you want the ability to ensure that your staging is synced from dev based on certain criteria. As long as these criteria are met you would want to be copy dev to staging through some automation?
